Active Adults Programs & Classes

A variety of drop-in programs and classes are offered at the Carbon Valley Active Adults & Community Center for adults age 55 and older.

Weekly Drop - In Programs 

Morning Joe Coffee 

Stop by the Active Adults & Community Center for a warm cup of coffee and conversation. A great way to start your day!

Crafts and Conversation 

Bring your favorite craft to work on while socializing, laughing, and having fun.

Join us for a game of Mahjong! Mahjong is a classic tile-based game that combines strategy, skill, and a bit of luck.

Diamond Dots 

Bring your own Diamond Dot art project and create with the group. Never created a Diamond Dot? Learn how to from the group. Diamond Dots is a fun way to create art and is sure to keep you coming back each week. Materials not provided by CVPRD.

Monthly Classes, Programs & Presentations

Lobby Stop with High Plains Library District 

CVPRD and the High Plains Library District Outreach team have partnered to bring a little bit of the Library to you! Library lobby stops will occur the first and third Tuesday of each month. Librarians will bring books, help you reserve books, recommend books and more. Stop by the Community Center to learn more about this program.

Social with Sarah - Welcome Spring

SilverSneakers, Renew Active and One Pass Fitness Orientation 

Join us for highlights of our Active Adult programming and a guided tour of the Rec Center.  Learn about the benefits of your SilverSneakers or Renew Active/One Pass membership along with fitness classes offered. Tour includes a brief overview of how to properly use the circuit and cardio machines.  Free for SilverSneakers, Renew Active Members. Registration in advance required.

Drop-In Bead Class 

Ever wondered how beads come together to create beautiful jewelry and art? Join fellow older adults as volunteer Barb guides you through the basics of beading and unique beading techniques. Willmaker Legal Seminar 

A wonderful way to get a tough job finished! In a single, easy and enjoyable session, you'll complete a will, living will, medical power of attorney, financial power of attorney and more, all with the help of licensed attorney, Rebecca L. Bennetti and her staff. Couples must register separately. Registration required by April 24, 2026.

Tech Help - New Day & Time! 

Have questions about your devices? The High Plains Library District Outreach Librarians will be on-site to help! Bring your smartphone, tablet, or computer and get hands-on assistance with everything from apps to troubleshooting common issues. Same great program as before, but a new day and time.

High Plains Library District Class: Fast Forward Film Showing 

Join us for a free viewing of the documentary followed by a brief group discussion and local resource tables. Take a proactive look at the process of aging in this PBS documentary addressing realizations, conversations and mindset rquired to age successfully. This program will include the film showing, a brief discussion, and film-related resource materials. Participants of all ages are welcome and invited to enjoy this valuable program. Sponsored by Aspen Club, a program by UC Health.

May Bingo 

Join us for our White Elephant Bingo! Bring a new or gently used item to add to our festive prize table, wrapped or unwrapped (surprise factor optional!) Blood Pressure Checks 

Swing by to have your blood pressure checked by trained professionals. It's a great opportunity to stay on top of your health and say "hi" to our local first responders. Registration not required.

Class: CPR/AED and First Aid 

The Frederick-Firestone Fire District (FFFD) is offering a Blended CPR/Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Basic First-Aid class through the American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI). This program teaches students the skills needed to identify and perform the appropriate skills for someone who is experiencing a cardiac related emergency. This course covers adult, child, and infant CPR, AED, and Heimlich. This course also covers basic first-aid. Presented by Frederick FIreston FIre District. No cost to register. Registration in advance required as space is limited. Please note this is a basic skills class not a certification class.

Hearing Screening 

May is Better Hearing Month! Family Hearing will be offering complimentary hearing screenings at the Carbon Valley Community Center. Whether you're noticing hearing difficulties, or just want to establish a baseline. Just need a hearing aide cleaning? Add your name to the waitlist for between appointments. Space is limited. Registration in advance required by May 18, 2026.
