About our Board Member:
What do you hope to accomplish during your time on the Board?
I'm here to see our recreation situation supported. It takes a lot to manage all the things our rec center offers, and I've learned the great respect deserving of each various aspect. As a Board member, my hope is always to be a liaison of various sorts.
What’s your background or experience that you bring to the table?
I've been an avid CVPRD patron for much longer than a Board member. The whole reason I ever decided to run at all was because of my love of our rec center.
What do you love most about Carbon Valley Parks & Rec?
BOD-Y-PUMP!! We have the best fitness instructors and the best Fitness Coordinator around, and so you'll find me doing Step, cycling, and Core as well.
How do you and your family or friends use Parks & Rec?
I'm there daily for a workout, and it's brutal when our Saturdays are in conflict because of volleyball or soccer games. It's crazy to think that I coached soccer for two decades, and about half of that was with CVPRD.
What’s one fun fact people might not know about you?
I birthed nine humans! One of my daughters was the 2020 State Homeschool Spelling Bee winner. And I, too, took second place in an adult spelling bee in Longmont around the same time. My youngest child was born on Leap Day 2012.
In a few words, what does “community” mean to you?
The essence of community is support. We are not all alike, and we're going to have varying interests. Something being on the Board has taught me is that it's never just about us, but also supporting the interests of others as well. Something so wonderful about a recreation center is the number of varying interests it serves in a community.
