1000lb/500lb Club

New for 2026

The 1000-lb (Men)/500-lb (Women) Club Challenge is a weightlifting competition that involves the cumulative total of a 1 Rep Max Bench Press, Squat, and Deadlift. The total weight lifted across all three lifts must be equal to 1000 lb or more for men and 500 lb or more for women within one hour to qualify for the club. This challenge is all about strength, technique, and pushing yourself to new limits, alongside a community that values hard work, encouragement, and camaraderie. Plus, successful competitors get a club-exclusive T-shirt!

Things to Know 

Entry Fee: $42 District/$63 Non-District

Age: 16+

Lifts must be completed at the Carbon Valley Recreation Center

Successful club competitors will receive an exclusive 1000LB/500LB Club T-shirt and featured on the club webage and weight room digital board. 

*Please note: competitors are not eligible for refunds for rejected scores because of not following rules, movement standards/technique or on time score submissions.

How to join the club 
  1. Register for the club and be sure to practice. *Competitors are not eligible for refunds for rejected scores.
  2. Submission two options.
    • When you’re ready, create a video of your lifts, within 1-hour. Filming must be non-stop and must clearly show unobstructed view of the lifts and the weights to verify lift values. Submit your video, your name, & start/stop time to sshankweiler@cvprd.com.
    • Or, when you’re ready, set up a time by emailing sshankweiler@cvprd.com for an in-person submission. Staff will verify weights and record lift values.
  3. Once you have submitted your lifts, staff judges will provide scoring and if your lift was accepted or rejected.
    • If accepted, competitors will get an official club T-shirt! You’ll also be listed on the club webpage and featured on the weight room digital board.
    • If rejected, you will have to submit again.

Technique Guidelines 

Weight of each final lift below together must equal more than 1000/500lb for men/women.

Example: 150lb bench press + 300lb back squat + 150lb deadlift = 600ln successful entry (women)

Bench Press

  • Film at a 45* angle & show each weight being added to the barbell for each lift
  • Keep both hands on the barbell throughout the repetition
  • 3 lift opportunities on each lift with the 3rd lift being the final challenge. Verify verbally “final lift”.

Back Squat

  • Film at a 45* angle showing hip hinge position showing each weight being added to the barbell for each lift
  • Squat to a depth where the hip crease is just below the top of the knee
  • Unrack the barbell & stand back up/return to full standing position, & rerack the barebell without assistance
  • 3 lift opportunities on each lift with the 3rd lift being the final challenge. Verify verbally “final lift”.

Deadlift

  • Film at a 45* angle, starting with the barbell on the ground (unracked) in front of you
  • Show each weight being added to the barbell for each lift
  • 3 lift opportunities on each lift with the 3rd lift being the final challenge. Verify verbally “final lift”.
