Introduction to Water Skills
5 - 17 years

  • Enter and exit water using ladder, steps, side of the pool, or ramp
  • Blow bubbles through mouth and nose
  • Bobbing
  • Open eyes underwater and retrieve submerged objects independently
  • Front jellyfish and tuck float for 10 seconds
  • Front and back glides and back float
  • Recover to a vertical position from a front glide and back float or glide
  • Roll from front to back and back to front
  • Tread water using arm and had actions
  • Alternating and simultaneous leg actions on front/back
  • Alternating and simultaneous arm actions on front/back
  • Combined arm/leg actions on front/back
  • Staying safe around aquatic environments

Prerequisite: Child must be ready to participate in a group setting.

Minimum: 3 Maximum: 7
