Carbon Valley Parks and Recreation District's fitness program strives to positively impact our community and surrounding areas by providing the highest quality experience through safe, effective and fun fitness programming. Our group fitness classes will challenge you and help you achieve your goals. Highly trained and qualified instructors teach low impact to high impact classes and everything in between.
Fitness classes are held at the Carbon Valley Recreation Center unless stated otherwise. Drop-in group fitness classes are included with daily admission fees or rec center membership passes.

The Saturday 9:35 am Restorative Yoga class will be moving to Sundays 10:05 - 11:05 am beginning December 10. The last Saturday class will be held December 9, 9:35 am.
12 Days of Fitness Challenge
Keeping up with your exercise routine during the holidays is difficult. Stay motivated and win prizes by completing the 12 Days of Fitness Challenge. All you need to do is attend any 12 group fitness classes between December 5 - 17. Must attend 12 classes, no exceptions. Group Fitness Class Descriptions
30-Minute High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) Cycling
Kick-start your metabolism through a series of short, high-intensity intervals. Don’t like being in the seat for an hour? You’ve found the right class. Short, but intense. For all fitness levels.
Alignment based Hatha yoga is a slower paced class, perfect for beginners to advanced and will take you through standing and seated Asanas while introducing students to backbends and inversions. Designed to calm your mind, body and spirit. Modifications are offered to make the class accessible to all levels of practitioners.
All Levels Yoga
A Vinyasa-style class, synchronizing breath with movement. This class builds balance, strength, tones the mind and body and leaves you feeling invigorated. Focuses on alignment and safety, with modifications for advanced poses, inversions and arm balances. Expect to build heat through breath, sweat, twisting and balance. Great for beginners and challenging enough for experienced yogis.
Balance and Beyond
Get stronger and improve your balance while lowering the risk of falling. Exercises are designed to improve strength and power around the ankle, hip and knee joints, while improving reaction time.

Barbell training and more! Focus on proper lifting techniques to improve muscular strength and endurance in this explosive total body conditioning class.
Fusing the best of Pilates, yoga, aerobics, and elements of strength training, Barre’ Above will sculpt your body and get you in to amazing shape. No barre’ needed for this results-driven workout. Class currently paused. Resumes October 25 at 6:45 pm.
High-intensity exercise class designed to increase strength, speed, muscular and cardiovascular endurance.
Buti is a music-driven movement practice that combines dynamic yoga poses, primal movement, intentional shaking, cardio-dance bursts and deep core conditioning. This one class has it all and may just be the soulmate workout you've been searching for! Class is considered intermediate to advanced.

Cycle to the CORE
HIIT cycling followed by Les Mills CORE training. It's a great mix of cardio and core.
Cycle to Strength
Combines 30 minutes of Indoor Cycle with 30 minutes of strength training.
Low-impact yoga class perfect for the new or beginning yogi looking for a peaceful and relaxing experience.
Old school aerobics are transformed into a modern, heart pounding, fun and effective workout. Cardio and toning meet leg warmers with a side of air guitar. Enjoy a zero equipment, full body, challenging and fun workout!

Build muscular strength, endurance, and flexibility with this pure HIIT strength into core workout.
Technique, power and cardiovascular endurance training for all levels of cyclists.
Challenge yourself in this 30-minute class designed to build strength and endurance in a short amount of time. For all fitness levels.

Build strength, stability and endurance in this ultimate scientific 30 minute core workout designed to improve definition and sports performance. Works all the muscles of the core including abdominals, glutes and back to improve balance and injury prevention.
Speed up your workout using intervals and circuits for a fast-paced, high intensity 60-minute class. Designed to increase athletic performance, strength and stamina.
This intense, 45-minute class incorporates cardio-kickboxing and strength training to build muscle and burn fat. Burn more calories in a shorter amount of time.
Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper body strength work with handheld weights, elastic tubing with handles and a SilverSneakers® ball is alternated with non-impact choreography. A chair is offered for support, stretching and relaxation exercises.
New to SilverSneakers or exercising? This is a great place to start! Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength and range of movement and activity for daily living skills. Handheld weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.
Get ready to move through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered so you can perform a variety of seated and standing postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity. This class is suitable for nearly every fitness level.
Ready for some old school step? Step intervals with weights and bodyweight strength training.
HIIT the Step
30 minutes for High Intensity Interval Training using bodyweight and a step platform. Guaranteed to drive the heart rate up and improve cardiovascular endurance.
Gentle moving poses and low-impact exercises help build balance, a healthy spirit, mind, and body.
The Tuesday/Thursday classes are held at CVPRD's Admin Studio, 8350 Colorado Blvd., Ste 180 (next to Dairy Queen). Wednesday classes are held at the Senior Center, 6615 Frederick Way.
