What You Need to Know About Fitness Classes During the Pandemic

  • Masks are required to be worn at all times in the recreation center however masks are not required to be worn during fitness classes. We ask that you leave your mask on until class starts and put it back on immediately after it ends.
  • Please wipe down your equipment with sanitizing wipes before and after use.
  • For classes at the Senior Center, please present your membership card to the instructor before class. Fingerprint check-in has been discontinued so please obtain a membership card from guest services at the rec center.
  • Classes are limited to 15 participants for classes held in gymnasium (11 for cycling) 10 for mind/body classes and 10 for aqua fitness. Please pick up a number card at the front desk before all classes. Cards may be obtained up to 90 minutes before class.
  • Tai Chi will resume during our third phase of reopening

SilverSneakers Class Information

SilverSneakers classes resume on Monday, July 13 and will be held at our new Firestone Studio located at 8350 Colorado Blvd. Suite 180 (next to Dairy Queen). 

For the safety of patrons and instructors, class size is limited so registration is required. You may register up to seven days in advance by clicking "Register" at the page or by clicking here. You may also register by calling 303-833-3660. 

Group Fitness Classes

Get moving and feel great! We offer a wide variety of fun and energizing group fitness classes taught by certified and experienced instructors. With so many options, there’s sure to be something for everyone. 

  • All group fitness classes are included with Carbon Valley Parks and Recreation District membership passes, punch cards, or drop-in admission. There are no additional fees.
  • Children under the age 15 are not allowed in fitness classes unless otherwise stated.

Class Descriptions

Kick-start your metabolism through a series of short, high intensity intervals. Don’t like being in the seat for an hour? You’ve found the right class. Short, but intense. For all fitness levels.

Alignment based Hatha yoga is a slower paced perfect for beginners to advanced and will take you through standing and seated Asanas; while introducing students to backbends and inversions. Designed to calm your mind, body and spirit. Modifications are offered to make the class accessible to all levels of practitioners.

A Vinyasa-style class, synchronizing breath with movement. This class builds balance, strength, tones the mind and body and leaves you feeling invigorated. Focuses on alignment and safety, with modifications for advanced poses, inversions and arm balances. Expect to build heat through breath, sweat, twisting and balance. Great for beginners and challenging enough for experienced yogis.

Fusing the best of pilates, yoga, aerobics, and elements of strength training, Barre Above® delivers a results-driven workout that is not only fun and dynamic, it will sculpt your body and get you into absolutely amazing shape.

High-intensity exercise class designed to increase strength, speed, muscular and cardiovascular endurance.

BODYPUMP/Core Fusion
30-minute BODYPUMP™ format followed by 30 minutes of CXWORX™ and/or Pilates. Strength followed by lengthening and core. The ultimate workout!

Low-impact yoga class perfect for the new or beginning yogi looking for a peaceful and relaxing experience.

Technique, power and cardiovascular endurance training for all levels of cyclists.

The original barbell class that shapes, tones and strengthens your entire body. Great music and your choice of weight inspires you to get the results you came for—and fast! If you’re looking to improve your athletic abilities this is the class for you. GRIT Athletic focuses on strength, speed, agility and power in this explosive 30-minute high-intensity interval training format.

This 30-minute high intensity interval training (HIIT) workout improves cardiovascular fitness, increase speed and maximize calorie burn using a variety of body weight exercises and provides the challenge and intensity you need to get results fast. Cardio takes HIIT and combines it with powerful music and inspirational coaches who will be down on the floor with you, motivating you to go harder to get fit, fast!

An intense 30-minute core training workout designed to tighten and tone your midsection, glutes and legs in the shortest amount of time possible.

Les Mills cutting edge Strength is a 30-minute high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout, designed to improve strength and build lean muscle. This workout uses a barbell, weight plate and body weight exercises to blast all major muscle groups.

MAT PILATES (Currently canceled)
Through continuous movement, Pilates will lengthen, strengthen, sculpt and tone all major muscle groups with an emphasis on the core. Pilates helps improve posture, flexibility, and balance. This Mat Pilates class will also utilize the FitBall®, along with other tools, to achieve maximum results! Beginner to advanced welcome. 

PiYo (Currently canceled)
Combines the muscle-sculpting, core-firming benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility advantages of Yoga. We crank up the speed to deliver a true fat-burning, low impact workout! 

POUND® (Currently canceled)
Designed for all fitness levels, POUND® provides the perfect atmosphere for letting loose, toning up and rockin’ out! Channel your inner Rockstar with this full body cardio-jam session inspired by the infectious, energizing, and sweat dripping fun of playing the drums. 

POWER CIRCUIT (Currently canceled)
Speed up your workout using intervals and circuits for a fast-paced, high-intensity 45-minute class will increase athletic performance, strength, and stamina.

Relax, Renew and Rejuvenate! Restorative yoga focuses on alleviating stress through a receptive practice. Asanas are held for longer periods using props for support. This yoga class is great for all body types, ages, and new practitioners, as well as experienced yogis.

SILVERSNEAKERS® BOOM MOVE (Currently canceled)
A higher intensity aerobic dance workout class that improves cardio endurance and burns calories. MOVE is all about breaking a sweat and having fun. The class focuses on simple dance moves then building into more complex sequences, bringing you a great cardio workout.

This workout focuses on cardiovascular endurance. Includes easy to follow low- impact movement and upper body strength, abdominal conditioning, stretching and relaxation exercises designed to energize your active lifestyle. Floor option is available in this class.

Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper body strength work with handheld weights, elastic tubing with handles and a SilverSneakers® ball is alternated with non-impact choreography. A chair is offered for support, stretching and relaxation exercises.

New to SilverSneakers or exercising? This is a great place to start! Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength and range of movement and activity for daily living skills. Handheld weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball are offered for resistance; and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

Stability is designed to help you become stronger and improve balance. The movements taught in class focus on specific exercises to improve strength and power around the ankle, knee, and hip joints while improving your reaction time. This class is designed for fall prevention and is suitable for nearly every fitness level. It can be adapted depending on the skill of individual participants. A chair may be used for balance and support. The class is held at the Senior Center.

A series of seated and standing yoga poses utilizing a chair for support so you can perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance, and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity. This class is suitable for nearly every fitness level.

TAI CHI (Currently canceled)
Gentle moving poses and low-impact exercises that help build balance, a healthy spirit, mind, and body.

A fun, total body workout, combining all elements of fitness – cardio, muscle conditioning, balance, and flexibility, boosted energy and a serious dose of awesome. No dance experience required.

A modified Zumba® class for active older adults that recreates the original moves you love at a lower-intensity. Easy to follow Zumba® choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion and coordination.
